Operational Efficiency & Project Management Training in Japan

Improving operational efficiency is often a precondition for reaching any larger organizational goal — in the public sector as much as in the private sector. This program introduces methods for improving operational efficiency, represented by KAIZEN — an approach that originated on manufacturing shop floors in Japan and has since been adapted and refined for use across government, services, and other non-manufacturing industries.

Alongside efficiency, this program also covers project management: from national-level projects to everyday initiatives, every project begins with situational analysis, problem identification, goal-setting, and the definition of indicators, inputs, and outputs. Through building a Project Design Matrix (PDM), participants learn practical know-how for planning and managing projects of any scale.

Our Approach

ABITAD is a newly established company, and we are still building our own track record as an organization. At the same time, our team brings hands-on professional experience — developed prior to founding ABITAD — in designing and delivering operational efficiency and project management training, including KAIZEN-based programs and Project Design Matrix (PDM) methodology. We draw on this experience, together with ABITAD’s network of Japanese public institutions, subject-matter experts, and program partners, to design training programs tailored to each delegation’s objectives. We welcome inquiries to discuss how we can support your organization’s training needs.

Program Format

Programs are customized based on each delegation’s objectives and can include two connected components:

Efficiency

  • Introduction to operational efficiency methods, represented by KAIZEN — an approach that originated in manufacturing
  • How these methods have been adapted for use in public administration, services, and other non-manufacturing settings
  • Site visits to Japanese organizations that have implemented efficiency-improvement methods such as KAIZEN

Project Management

  • Hands-on sessions building a Project Design Matrix (PDM)
  • Situational analysis and problem identification
  • Goal-setting and the definition of indicators, inputs, and outputs
  • Structured discussions and workshops with Japanese practitioners in project planning and management

Why Japan, Why ABITAD

Japan is globally recognized as the origin of KAIZEN and related continuous-improvement methods, which have since spread from manufacturing into public administration, services, and organizations worldwide. ABITAD works with clients to translate this experience — together with practical project management methodology such as the Project Design Matrix (PDM) — into training that fits each organization’s context and goals.
